Online Deposit Options
If you’ve ever browsed the deposit options page of an online poker room, you’ve likely been met with a long list of methods to choose from; some easily recognizable, and others you’ve probably never heard of before. For some, taking the easy road of a credit card deposit is the obvious choice, but for others, it’s not that simple.
Online Poker Deposit Options 2015
Honestly, a credit card is the fastest, most secure poker deposit options. If you can use this method, by all means do so. If you’re in the United States, however, you may not be able to deposit via credit card. Many US-facing poker rooms will accept credit card deposit from Americans, but they don’t always go through. Often times, the credit card company will reject the deposit.
Best Deposit Methods in 2015
Then again, not everyone wishes to give their credit card details over the Internet. This is where online payment processors come into play. There are many online payment processors on the menu these days, like NETeller, Moneybookers, Click2Pay, ClickandBuy and Eco Card.
These are all secure, trusted payment processors. Unfortunately, none of them allow US customers to use their services for online gambling purposes. If you’re an online poker player in the US, you still have a few options to work with. The most reputable choices are eWalletXpress and UseMyWallet (a.k.a. QuickTender).
We’ll briefly discuss each of these distinguished poker deposit options, for US and non-US players, detailing how they work.
Credit Card Deposit
Credit card deposits are quick and simple. The poker room will ask for your type (Visa, MasterCard, AmEx, etc), card number, expiration date and your name, as it appears on the card. If these details match the info you signed up your account with, the deposit is instantly made and available in your poker account.
Note: If you’re in the US, the deposit may or may not be rejected by the credit card company.
Non-US Payment Processors
These include NETeller, Moneybookers, Click2Pay, etc. Online payment processors are a great way to reserve your financial details, offering them to just the payment processor, instead of every site you make purchases from. You will need to sign up an account and link it to your credit card or bank account. You may be required to deposit from your credit card or bank account into the payment processor account before making a purchase.
Otherwise, the funds are taken directly from your card/bank upon purchase. From there, visit the poker room, choose this method and input your desired deposit amount. You’ll be asked to login to the payment processor account to confirm the deposit. The funds are then instantly available for use in the online poker room.
US Payment Processors – eWallet Xpress (no longer active)
eWalletXpress is the number one US poker deposit option. It works just like other online payment processors (see Non-US Payment Processors above), but allows US players to use its services for online gambling purposes.
What makes eWalletXpress so beneficial for US players is that most poker rooms will supply this method for both deposits and withdrawals; meaning US players don’t have to wait by the mail box for 2-6 weeks for a paper check to arrive.
US Payment Processors – UseMyWallet
UseMyWallet, also known as QuickTender, is another instant poker deposit option for US players, but it works a bit differently. In order to open an account, the player must first go to their online poker room and choose to deposit via UseMyWallet.
They are asked if they have an account with QuickTender. If not, the player is sent an email inviting them to join QuickTender. There is no other way to open a new account with this online payment processor. From there, UseMyWallet works just like most other online payment processors.
Last but not least, Instant eChecks are a fast, easy way for any online poker player to deposit funds into their poker account. These work just like a real paper check, except that they are filled out online and instantly available for use in the online poker room.
The poker site will not receive the payment for about 10 days (just like clearing a paper check), but they are notified immediately if the funds are available, therefore give the player the ability to play with their purchase instantly.
To use an Instant eCheck, the player is asked to fill out a few fields, including the bank account number, bank’s routing number, and the name and address on the check (must match your sign-up info). All of this information is found on your real paper checks, and the poker room will provide images to show you where to find it.
